Accessibility Statement

Everyone belongs in the studio — and everyone should be able to use the Website. Here is our commitment, and how to ask for anything we have not yet provided.

01Our Commitment

Accessibility is part of what the Academy is. We welcome students of every ability, and we are committed to removing barriers from both the Website and the studio. We will work with you to provide reasonable accommodation, and we will keep working on the areas below.

We publish this statement under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA), which requires us — as an Ontario business serving the public — to make our public website accessible, to develop accessibility policies, and to communicate in accessible ways.

02Standards & Conformance

Under the AODA's Information and Communication standard, public websites and web content must meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA success criteria. We are working toward WCAG 2.1 Level AA for the whole Website (including the booking flow) and are auditing our pages against it.

Honestly stated: at the time of this version, some pages — including this one and the booking form — may not yet meet every Level AA criterion. Where a gap exists, tell us through the channels below and we will fix it. We do not hide the gaps; we name them and close them.

The following exemptions in the regulation do not apply to the content we publish, except as noted: content published before January 1, 2012 (ours is newer); and content that requires a login we do not offer on the public Website. If you encounter a page that is not accessible, it is a bug to us, not a feature — please report it.

03What We Are Doing

Concretely, across the Website:

  • semantic HTML with a logical heading structure, so screen readers can navigate the page;
  • visible, high-contrast text and focus indicators for keyboard users (including a visible outline when tabbing through links and buttons);
  • labels on every form field (a visible label, not just a placeholder), so assistive technology can announce them;
  • all interactive elements reachable by keyboard alone, in a predictable order;
  • respect for reduced motion settings — animations stop for visitors who ask their system for less motion;
  • resizable text up to 200% without loss of content or function;
  • images with descriptive alternative text where the image carries meaning, and empty (decorative) text where it does not;
  • plain language: our policies (this one, the Terms, the Privacy Policy, the Refund Policy) are written to be readable, and are available in an accessible format on request.

We test with keyboard-only navigation and at least one screen reader (VoiceOver and NVDA), and we re-check whenever a page changes. If you use a tool we do not, your report makes our checklist better — send it to the address below.

04Accommodation in the Studio

The studio itself is open to all students, and we provide reasonable accommodation on request, for example:

  • larger-print or dyslexia-friendly versions of handouts and schedules;
  • a quiet workspace, adjusted seating, or modified tools where a physical need arises;
  • extra time and one-to-one support for assessments and portfolio reviews;
  • an individualized plan with the parent/guardian where the student has specific access or communication needs.

Tell us in advance what helps — a note in the booking form, an email, or a call all work — and we will make it happen. Nothing you tell us about a disability or an accommodation need is shared with other students or posted publicly.

05Feedback & Accessible Formats

If any part of the Website is hard to use, we want to know. Send us (accessibility at the studio is owned by Vahid Bahmani):

  • which page or feature is the problem;
  • what you were trying to do and what assistive technology or device you use (optional); and
  • your contact details if you would like a reply.

We respond to accessibility feedback within 10 business days, and we treat confirmed barriers as priority fixes.

Accessible formats. Under the AODA, on request we provide our policies and public documents in an accessible format — for example, an electronic format that works with your reader, large print, or an audio version. Ask and we will arrange it, free of charge.
